Castle Paint Calculator

Easily calculate the amount of paint you'll need for your project with our paint calculator guidelines.

We understand that calculating the right amount of paint for your project can be a challenge. That's why we've developed some quick and easy guidelines to help you estimate the correct amount of paint needed to complete your project.

Whether you're refreshing a single room or tackling an entire home, our paint calculator provides guidance based on room dimensions, ceiling height, and the number of coats required.

Small Room

Based on an average ceiling height of 2.6m, a small room approximately 2m x 2m would require around 2.5 litres of paint for two coats on all walls.

For painting with dark colours or covering a dark colour with a light one, an additional coat may be needed. In such cases, it is advisable to purchase 5-litre of paint to ensure you a suffient quantity to cover all walls.

For freshly plastered walls, apply a base coat before painting. This base coat can be white or your chosen paint colour, thinned with 20% water before application.

Medium Room

Based on an average ceiling height of 2.6m, a medium room approximately 4m x 4m would require about 5 litres of paint for two coats on all walls.

For dark colours or when covering a dark colour with a light one, an additional coat may be necessary. In such cases, it is advisable to purchase 10 litres to ensure you have sufficient paint to cover all walls.

For freshly plastered walls, apply a base coat before painting. This base coat can be white or your chosen paint colour, thinned with 20% water before application.

Large Room

Based on an average ceiling height of 2.6m, a large room approximately 8m x 8m would require about 10 litres of paint for two coats on all walls.

For dark colours or when covering a dark colour with a light one, an additional coat may be needed. In such cases, it is recommended to purchase 15 litres to ensure you have sufficient paint for all walls.

For freshly plastered walls, apply a base coat before painting. This base coat can be white or your chosen paint colour, thinned with 20% water before application.

Internal Doors

For a standard door size of 80 inches by 30 inches, a 750ml can of paint should be enough to cover the door with two coats.

If you are painting with a dark colour or covering a dark colour with a light one, an additional coat may be needed. In this case, it is advisable to purchase 1 litre to ensure you have a sufficient quantity.
