At Castle, our commitment to sustainability is a core value that guides every aspect of our business. Our sustainability journey began several years ago with a mission to transform our operations to reduce waste and energy consumption. Today, we are proud to operate one of Ireland’s most sustainable paint factories, continuously striving to minimise our environmental impact.

In 2022, our dedication to environmental stewardship was recognised with the ISO14001 certification for our Environmental Management System. This prestigious certification underscores our commitment to implementing and maintaining effective environmental practices across our manufacturing processes.

Building on this momentum, in 2023, we became silver members of the Irish Green Business Council, further solidifying our pledge to sustainable business practices. As part of this initiative, we have developed our first Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs), providing transparent and detailed information about the environmental impact of our products throughout their life cycle.

  • We're Environmentally Responsible

    Castle are committed to practicing environmental sustainability. We are proud to be silver members of the Irish Green Business Council and to be part of a global action network that can bring about transformative change.

  • Our Packaging is Fully Recyclable

    Castle products are packaged using fully recyclable materials.

    Our paint packaging consists of 100% recyclable metal or PCR recycled plastic - both of which are part of the 'circular economy' meaning they can be easily recycled and repurposed.

  • We're Carbon Conscious

    Where possible we source our raw materials and consumables locally to help reduce the carbon footprint of Castle products.

    We're conscious of road miles and use dynamic daily route planning to help run an efficient delivery service while reducing energy consumption.

  • We're Powered by Renewable Energy

    Our facility is powered by specially specified Solar PV systems which produce energy to support the entire premises.

    We strategically upgrade equipment to more energy efficient alternatives as we work towards reducing our carbon footprint even further.

  • We Invest in R&D to Develop New Products with Lower VOCs

    Our R&D focuses on reducing the number of VOC emissions from our product range. New Product Development includes developing water-based solutions for products which would be traditionally solvent based.

  • Water-Based Architectural & Decorative Range

    Our Architectural & Decorative range is predominately water based with low VOCs and are designed to minimise the environmental impact without compromising on quality or performance.

    Our water-based paints offer exceptional coverage, vibrant colour retention, and enhanced durability, making them an ideal choice for those committed to sustainable building practices.

  • We Have Achieved EPD Status for Our Products

    Several of our paints and coating products, have achieved Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) status which confirms that our products meet stringent environmental performance standards throughout their lifecycle.
